The Yale-NUS Reading Room is now facilitating all Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery requests for Yale-NUS academic staff. This service includes what has previously been referred to as ‘Scan and Deliver’ and ‘Direct Borrowing’ services through Yale University. Please use the following forms to submit requests:
Interlibrary Loan (for books not found at NUS Libraries): Yale-NUS borrows books from libraries throughout Singapore, as well as Yale University. If we are unable to fill ILL requests easily, the Library will consider purchasing materials.
Document Delivery Services (for electronic access to articles and book chapters not found at NUS Libraries): For articles and book chapters not in the NUS collection, Yale-NUS College Library requests electronic copies from Yale University, among other prominent U.S. institutions including UC Berkeley, Cornell, Ohio State, Princeton, Stanford, University of Washington and University of Wisconsin-Madison.
F.A.Q. for Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Services
1. What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?
Interlibrary Loan allows Yale-NUS academic staff to borrow books from external libraries that are not available in the NUS Libraries collection. Please fill out this form to submit an ILL request for books not found at NUS Libraries.
2. How does Document Delivery differ from Interlibrary Loan?
Document Delivery Service (DDS) provides access to articles, papers and book chapters not available in the NUS collections. These items are usually provided in electronic form. Please fill out this form to submit a DDS request for articles, papers, and book chapters not found at NUS Libraries.
3. Are there any limits on Document Delivery requests?
DDS requests can only be made for materials that support research and teaching activities at Yale-NUS and NUS. Copyright restrictions also limit requests to the following:
- Journals/Conference Proceedings: 1 article per issue
- Books: 10% or 1 chapter, which ever is less.
